Habitat Conservation & Restoration
Population growth, economic development, and other human impacts have degraded natural habitats in the Gulf of Mexico coastal zone. To stop further deterioration and promote future regeneration, Gulf communities must commit to environmentally sustainable development. The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is working to advance conservation and restoration of coastal habitats and ecosystems
while protecting habitat quality, quantity, and overall ecosystem services. The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is focusing on five habitat conservation and restoration issues including expanding partnerships, changing policy, developing technology, creating a Gulf Regional Sediment Management Master Plan and reversing the downward trend in habitat and ecosystem services.
Gulf of Mexico Coastal Training Habitat Conservation and Restoration workshops address this priority issue.
